A grounding in basic skills, knowledge and understanding of common engineering practices, along with a grasp of safe working practices, are essential for anyone seeking to build a career in engineering. The NVQ level 2 is completed at OTC with OTC spending thousands on new equipment over the Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical and Fab/Weld departments. Every instructor is fully qualified and has come from an industrial background.

This is a continuation from your level 2 NVQ and is based around the natural forming evidence in your working environment whether it is in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, or Fab/Weld. In other words you will have to produce a portfolio in which you demonstrate you meet the requirements of your company’s needs as well as the awarding bodies. To help you along the way you will be given a qualified training advisor who will regularly visit you at work to check on your progress and complete observations. At start, the units you will need to compete are negotiated between OTC, your company and yourself from a list of 1000’s of combinations.
